Flag punting is a fairly advance skill used in Tribes Ascend, where a capper grabs the flag and then throws and shoots the flag in mid air to send it half way across the map. Find out how to do flag punting here.
Flag punting can seem to be almost impossible when you first try it, when you throw your flag it can seem very thin and hard to shoot, but the thing to remember is you don’t actually need to aim at the flag at all. To flag punt, grab the enemies flag and then ski in a straight line, throw the flag directly in-front of you (not at an angle or to the side, but directly in the direction you’re skiiing) and then click the drop flag button and then immediately (within a millisecond) click the left mouse button to shoot the flag. If you’ve got the timing right, then you should manage to propel the flag very far, you can also try looking slightly upwards when throwing the flag to add some height to your flag punt.
* Don’t forget flag punting only works when you’re travelling at a fast speed, you also need to have an explosive weapon equipped (like a spinfusor or thumper DX).
