![]() | Learn About The Tribes Ascend Beta – Here’s All The Basic Information To Get Started On The Tribes Ascend Beta |
Tribes Ascend is still in Beta, which means the gaming community still has very little knowledge about the game. So here’s some of the basic details of the Starsiege Tribes universe and the brand new game Tribes Ascend!
- The original game that started the franchise was ‘Starsiege Tribes’, a first person shooter created in 1998 by Dynamix and Sierra Entertainment.
- Tribes Ascend is the fourth Tribes game. Tribes 2 was released in March 2001, Tribes Vengeance in October 2004 and now Tribes Ascend slated for full release in 2012.
- Tribes Ascend contains 2 opposing clans: the nomadic Blood Eagle and elitist Diamond Sword. The previous games also included the ultra religious Children of the Phoenix, the breakaway Starwolf and the genetically engineered Bioderms.
- There are currently 12 different loadouts (different weapon options) available in the Beta. For the final release, the developers at Hi Rez Studios (the creators) are hoping to have availabe: 15 loadouts, 30 weapons and 10 playable maps.
- Tribes Ascend is a multiplayer only first person shooter (utilizing the Unreal 3 Engine) that defines itself from other shooters with the use of jetpacks and frictionless boots.
- Here’s some background info on the game, provided by Todd Harris, Hi-Rez Studios Chief Operating Officer: “The Tribes franchise is set in the far future and Ascend picks up late in the 34th century. Humanity has discovered artificial wormholes called jumpgates and used these to travel and spread among the stars, settling in an area called The Wilderzone, far from Earth. War divided humanity into many small tribes, but eventually four major tribes emerge as dominant. Tribes Ascend focuses on a new conflict between two of the major Tribes – the Blood Eagle and the Diamond Sword.”.
- Tribes Ascend will be a free to play game with 2 loadouts initially available. Further loadouts can be unlocked through persistent play and the accumulation of tokens, or you can purchase Tribes Gold to unlock loadouts immediately. You can also purchase Booster packs which double the rate you acquire tokens.
