As with every levelling based game, people always want to find the fastest way to level and get XP (experience). So we’ve scoured the internet and here’s a few ways to get XP fast in Tribes Ascend.
First up, lets be clear how to get XP in Tribes Ascend, your XP is assigned after every match you take part in and the amount calculated is based on the duration of time you play for and also your final score. So to level fast you need to play for long periods of time and also score high. The most important part of this equation is playtime, so to get XP fast you should play for as long as possible.
1. Repeated Flag Passing
Puffgoal has posted on YouTube his fastest way to get XP. You just need to join an empty rabbit game, get 4 people to stand together and pass the flag over and over in a circle. Each flag pass gives you 250 points, so after 25 minutes that equates to over a hundred flag passes, a huge score and almost double the amount of XP of a normal game (not really worth it for the boredom though).
2. Heavy Generator Assault
The current scoring system for Tribes Ascend still favours kills over anything else, so to really boost your in-game score and in turn improve your XP, you need to get a high kill count. The easiest way to do this is attacking the generators as a Heavy (Brute), as they’ve got a lot of hit-points, a shield pack and small enclosed generator rooms mean light and medium defenders get shot down quickly.
3. Technician Defence
Another easy way to amass a big score in Tribes Ascend is defending the flag and generator using the Technician loadout. The most important part of this is repairing the generators and turret placement. With the current patch, turrets are very powerful and accurate meaning a careless offence can be killed off quickly for an easy score. While your deployed turrets are killing off attackers you should be repairing everything consistently as you also receive points for anything repaired. With these 2 combined you can rack up a very high score.
4. Play Every Single Day
A bonus is given to every player once a day, it’s a medal called “First Win Of The Day”, but to receive this you need to play at least 1 match and win it. So if you really want to level quick, make sure you play and win at least 1 match a day.

Great heads up on how to optimize experience, however I believe there is more to it. I have been in a deathmatch game as a noob and killed 7 and ended up getting over 1500 exp, I think it was 1750. However I then rolled a game where I killed 12 and only got 700. Both games were after the initial once a day credit payout, and the thing most noticable about the 7 kill 1750 payout was that I got a couple of melee kills and got the awards for it. Do melee kills grant a lot?
Perhaps there is a stacking penalty, like for instance, you toss a flag 1 time and get 100 points, but you pass it a second and it’s worth 50, then 25, then 10 and maybe it just stays at 10 after that. So that would HEAVILY weight exp in favor of getting every single TYPE of kill there is. Melee, flag, revenge, whatever the awards may be. If you think about it, that kind of makes sense, although it would not be a way that is easy to farm.

it depends on the length of the game in seconds, and the position you got on the score board, if you win you get and additional 1/4 of your base xp and there is an additional bonus which is 1/4 of you base xp divided by your rank on the leader board (base xp is time played in seconds times 0.5833)

And if you quit before the match is over, you get ZERO XP. (The wiki is incorrect — I ran a test, playing for 13 minutes, and I never received any XP).

It even says you get the XP for what you play in game. Are you sure?

I’m pretty sure you do get XP, it’s been mentioned repeatedly in the patch notes that you now get XP for half finished matches.

You get those XP once the actual match ends, not on leave.

FYI: A new day for “First Win Of The Day” begins in Tribes at exactly 10:00 (AM) UTC+00:00.

HiRez changed XP algorythm. You don’t get more xp for doing stupid stuff anymore. You get more XP by winning game.
That means, player last on scoreboard on winning team gets more than player on first place on losing team. Of course you can’t switch teams 1 sec before lose, because it also takes time you played in both teams in account. You played 99% time on losing team and 1% on winning = you get 1-2 more xp for switching, which is pointless.

You can still ‘farm’ achievements for xp on private server, if you find 8 players for it (less than 8 players means no xp from achievements).
